L:
And so is the tale of Bovary
Lost in her lust and misery
Doomed to resent
and never consent
To the ways her novel played out
S:
In the end her dreamy lovers
content to abandon her plight
turned a blind eye
ran away to the sky
where their stories played out
where their stories were happy
And Homais gets an award
his life is adored
despite his own banality
his despicable finality
he still came out on top
Bovary never free
remained the loosing family
So much damage was done
and nobody won
L:
Her connection meant nothing
her love was mistrusting
for she abandoned the ones who adored her
Her daughter and husband
cared for her truly
and all she could do
was die
On her own accord
she swallowed her sword
playing the role of God
Did she deserve the fate she was served
on the steps of Notre Dame?
S:
Was it justified that she died?
life lived for suicide?
I think not.
their tragic match
for Charles to latch
onto her beauty quickly
onto her beauty shapely
Charles may be a bore,
and Emma a whore
He with a soul divine
Unaware that she had a mind
that needed romance not routine
Incompetent to her needs meant
that she spent her time straying
Her false little dream
was not as it seemed
She could never live as her novel
she could simply live not to grovel
Could she conceive of what it would mean
to feel content without reaching?
L:
Of course she could not
too much not sought
She thrived on her chaos
she longed for extremes
Her tale was destined to fail
her life was that of the victim
Never stood up for what she thought
just wandered around extremely distraught
She could have learned
she could have seen
but she chose not to
she lived in her scene
Her life as a novel,
tragic and hostile
She could have changed
but she didn't want to.
S:
There is only so much
a leading lady can do
with power not found
males always knew
Women are just the pawns for their games
even when ladies are fearless of shame
Emma's independent spirit
so strong, they fear it
about to burst at the seams
It comes in its waves
starts to pave
the path for the chaos
ensuing
A victim of circumstance
as set up by chance
in her era, her gender, her beauty
'Tis not justified
her sordid lies
but a different time
women change their mind
and such would not hold true
L:
Modern day she would find a way
to get rid of Charles so bluntly
but fix it not, she'd remain distraught
for divorce would not be the answer
for divorce a band aid on cancer
